Answer first

Xbox has four established retail-console families.

In order, they are the original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The research distinguishes a new generation from a redesign, performance revision, storage package or removed-disc configuration. That prevents a white shell, a larger drive or a bundle from being counted as a new generation. Source ↗ Source ↗ Source ↗ Source ↗

03 / Coverage boundaries

Console generations are not the same as every edition or accessory.

This list focuses on documented retail console configurations. It does not count internal board names, every regional or cosmetic edition, prototypes, development hardware or accessories as separate consoles.

ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X and the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition are co-branded devices, not additional Xbox console generations. Source ↗

Next check

Once the exact console is identified, use the compatibility decision record with the exact game edition, entitlement route and needed outcome. Stop when both the hardware configuration and the game-access path are supported—do not buy on a family-name assumption.
