Keep the states separate
| State | What can be established | What not to infer |
|---|---|---|
| Proposed | Prelaunch policy descriptions connected disc use and account/network checks. | That every proposed detail operated in consumers’ homes. |
| Reversed | The company announced a changed offline and disc policy on 19 June 2013. | A single verified cause for the decision. |
| Shipped | The retail policy must be described from the post-reversal system and later updates. | That launch-era rules remained unchanged forever. |
Why the case still matters
It teaches an evidence rule: store the original scope and date, then record whether a commitment was delivered, narrowed, delayed, reversed, superseded or remains unverified. That rule powers Promises and Outcomes.
It also prevents a bad analogy. A modern entitlement, cross-save relationship, or subscription condition needs its own current evidence; the 2013 case supplies method and context, not a prediction.
